John D. Jones

Age 86 of New Boston passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born May 11, 1929 in Greenup, KY, a son of the late Ellis and Hazel Colley Jones. He was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in New Boston where he was very active in the Clothing Giveaway Program, was a graduate of McKell High School, was a former truck driver, and a manager of the Ohio State Liquor Store.

John is survived by a son, William David Jones and wife Brenda of West Portsmouth; a daughter, Brenda Ratcliffe and husband Bill of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Erica, Jessica; 3 great-grandchildren; Ralph and Macel Marshall who were like brother and sister; and his caregiver, Janet Shuff. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Jones and a brother, Wilburn Jones.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday December 15, 2015 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Frank Stidham officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Union Cemetery.
