John Elwood Vest, Jr.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Elwood Vest Jr., who left us on January 9, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on September 8, 1959 in Lebanon, PA John brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

He was an avid watcher of Westerns, a devoted lover of Pepsi, and a talented guitar player. He found joy in woodworking, mowing the grass, planting flowers, playing board games, music and savoring a good cup of coffee.

He was a devoted companion to Pamela Matthews. A loving father to Tiffney(Jamie) Green, Crystal Vest, Zachary Dorst, Stillman Buck Dingus IV, Sarah P.(Clayton J.), and Kayla V.(James IV H.) A wonderful Papaw/Boppy to Tyler Vest, Braxton Plybon, Taden Adkins, Lucas Penix, Caylee Penix, Brooklyn Green, Braylyn Green, Artie Hobbs, and Emmy Hobbs. As well as 2 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his 6 sisters. Jenny Blackburn, Lee(Kenny) Parsons, Frances Williams, Vickie Miller, Mona(Russell) Garrett, and Gina(Bob)Ray. As well as several nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his Father (John Elwood Vest Sr.), Mother (Virginia Ruth Copas), his brother in laws (Ronnie Hodge, Wayne Blackburn, Steve Miller, Rocky Williams) and 3 nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace with Pastor Bob Davis officiating.  Services are under the direction of SWICK BENTLEY FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.
