Larry Hale, 83, of Portsmouth passed away, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Buckeye Forest in Rosemount. He was born on September 6, 1941 to the late Chandis and Bonnie (Eggers) Hale in Higginsport, Ohio. Larry was popular in high school, a typical 1950’s car guy kown for his intelligence, wit, and being a fount of useless knowledge. He gave the graduation speech for his Glenwood High School class of 1959, served as an officer and participated in class plays. He and his best friend, James Mingus, married sisters, Mary and Janice Schomburg, the mother of his son, Alan, a chip off the old block. Larry worked at Blackburn’s Market in high school and graduated from the Radiology Program at General Hospital, becoming a registered X-ray technician and working at General Hospital.

He worked for the N&W Railroad until the job of Fireman was abolished, and then for Detroit Steel. His final employment was for General Electric in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Jesse Hale, his grandparents who raised him, Gretta and Zach Hale, his parents Chadis Hale and Bonnie Eggers Hale, and his beloved daughter, Kristi Hale; Maternal grandfather, Denver Eggers; his paternal aunt, Ava Chaboudy; and paternal uncle, Edgar Hale. He is survived by a son, Larry Alan Hale, his brothers, Douglas Lowe, Ronald Hale, and Dr. Luke Queen.

There will be no services at Larry’s request. The family also asked for no gifts or flowers but only your much appreciated prayers. Larry was a devout Christian, a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Cremation services are being provided by SWICK BENTLEY FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.
