Phyllis Newman

Phyllis J. Newman, 66, of Portsmouth, died, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at SOMC Hospice. She was born February 6, 1945 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Robert Clay, Sr. and Mildred Hanes Eshem. Phyllis was a 1963 graduate of Minford High School and graduated from Portsmouth Business College in 1966. She was a former employee of E.J. Kenricks and Spencer Cunningham & Assoc. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Ronald A. Newman, whom she married on June 10, 1966; two daughters, Rhonda Seagraves and Kathyrn Newman; two grandsons, Christopher Seagraves and Samuel Newman; a sister, Sharon Lee; three brothers, Herman (Helen) Eshem, Douglas Eshem, Raymond (Sylvia) Eshem; a special niece, Robin Bentley and many other nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Newman; a grandson, Robert Clay Seagraves; three brothers, Robert C. Eshem Jr., John Eshem, and Billy Eshem; and three sisters, Nancy Eshem, June Eshem, and Delores Eshem. Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Jack Williams officiating. Burial will be at Scioto Burial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
