Walter C. Lytten, 80, of New Boston passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born December 4, 1945 to the late Walter C. Lytten Sr. and Lillian Anita (Logan) Lytten. Butch was a lifetime resident of New Boston. He was a longtime attorney and Scioto County Common Pleas Court Judge. Butch loved to fish and spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He especially liked going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He would have celebrated his 60th anniversary with his wife Mary on the 28th of January.
Butch is survived by his wife, Mary (Canter) Lytten of New Boston; a daughter, Shelley (Shawn) Lytten Darnell of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren who called him “Pappy”, Ally Darnell, Jake Darnell and Mia Darnell; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Lytten . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Lytten and Randy Lytten; two sisters, Janice Nichols and Leila Lytten Phillips; a sister-in-law, Ora Lytten; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Nichols and Chip Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at SWICK BENTLEY FUNERAL HOME in New Boston. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Online condolences may be left at www.SbentleyFH.com.
