William Rule Gartin Sr. "Pap" (10/13/1933 - 09/23/2025)
William Rule Gartin Sr., 91, of Portsmouth, OH, passed peacefully at home with his family on 09/23/2025.
Pap was born in Hartscreek, WV in 1933 to Earl and Josie Gartin, and spent his life working as an Iron Worker, hunting, fishing and meeting the needs of his family. He was always present for his children, nieces, nephews and anyone that needed him.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances, brother Oscar Earl Gartin, sisters Janet Mershon Cole and Lillian Buckley, son William Rule Gartin Jr., granddaughter Billie Jo Jordan, and his grandson Bobby Lee Gartin.
Pap is survived by his children Oscar (Joyce) Gartin, Belinda Cofer, Chester (Brenda) Gartin Sr., his grandchildren Tabitha (Jason) Compton, Regina (Mike) Smith, Kayla (Nick) Adkins, John Paul Gartin, Danielle (Michael) Ashley, Jennifer Lis, Alicia Cofer, Brandy Cofer, April Gartin, Chester Gartin Jr., Peter Gartin, and Nicholas Gartin. Pap has twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren, with one more on his way.
Viewing will be on Monday 9/29/25 5:00 PM-7:00PM at SWICK BENTLEY FUNERAL HOME in New Boston, and the funeral service is Tuesday, 9/30/25 at 1:00PM.
